Indian Bean Tree

Deciduous, spreading tree approx 12m x 8m. Opposite leaves are heart shaped to 20cm. Bell-shaped terminal white flowers with yellow/purple markings in summer. Fruits are narrow, cylindrical pods to 50cm that may persist after leaf fall.

Uses

Ornamental tree for streets, parks and larger gardens.

Culture

A hardy tree, suited to most conditions, it prefers full sun, growing best in sheltered conditions and well-drained soil in areas with warm to hot summers. Waterlogging, drought and frost resistant. Propagate by seed in autumn, cuttings in late spring, budding in late summer or grafting in winter.
