A perennial to 50 cm tall, with fine, narrow green leaves, and purple to blue flowers.

Uses

Oils from the foliage are used in perfumes and liqueurs. The leaves, seeds and flowers have culinary uses, and can be used in pot pourri. Hyssop is an excellent bee attractant. May be used in gardens as a low hedge.

Culture

Hyssop prefers full or part sun. Grows best in temperate climates.
It grows best in fertile, well drained, alkaline soils. Can tolerate dry soil. Prune lightly after flowering and again in spring. Frost tolerant. Prune heavily after flowering. Replace plants once they become thick and woody at the base.

Seed, cuttings, mound layering or division.
