Warminster Broom

Hybrid between C. multiflorus and C. purgans. Shrub approx 1m high by 1m wide. Slender branches arise from the base. Cream-yellow pea-like flowers are scented, occurring in spring. Fruit are grey pea-like pods. There are a number of cultivars with richer yellow flowers.

Uses

Ornamental shrub suitable for garden beds and as a low hedge.

Culture

Adaptable to wide range of conditions, tolerates both waterlogged and dry soil conditions. Will not flower in full shade. Frost and drought resistant. Propagate by cuttings in late summer.
