Lily-of-the-valley

Rhizomatous perennial growing to 30cm high. Will spread indefinitely. Leaves are narrowly ovate, mid-green and pointed. The flowers are pendulous, fragrant, small white bells that occur in spring.

Uses

Ornamental perennial suitable for shaded sites such as under deciduous trees. They can also be transplanted to pots for indoor display, then replanted after flowering.

Culture

Suitable for semi-shade in a cool climate, Lily of the Valley prefers moist, fertile soil. Propagate by seed or division. The fruit is poisonous.
