Cornflower
Fast-growing upright annual plant growing to between 30cm and 1m high by 30cm wide. Branched stems support grey-green, lanceolate leaves. The flowers are daisy-like, usually double and blue, pink, red, purple or white in colour.
Uses
Ornamental flower suitable for cottage garden and as a bedding plant. Popular as a cut flower.
Culture
Suitable for full sun and temperate climates. Prefers well-drained soil and will grow in both infertile and alkaline soils. Tolerates frost. Deadhead regularly to prolong flowering. Propagate by seed.
