Zebra plant

Evergreen herbaceous perennial to 1m high. Leaves are up to 30cm long, glossy and dark green with white veins. Yellow flowers are borne on 15cm spikes arising from axial bracts.

Uses

Suitable for an herbaceous border in warm climates or as an indoor plant in cool climates.

Culture

Prefers a warm, well-lit position out of direct sun. Grows best in moist and well-drained soil. Frost sensitive.

Propagation

Propagate by seed or tip cuttings in spring.

Cultivars

Several cultivars including:

'Apollo': Pronounced white veins.

'Dania': Compact grower.

'Red Apollo': Red stems and undersides of leaves.

'Louisae:  Prolific bloomer.

'Rembrandt': Dark green leaves with thick white veins.

Plant Health

Prone to Aphids, Mealy Bugs, Scale, Mite, White flies; Leaf Spot, Botrytis Blight.
