Mondo Grass, Snakebeard,
Clump-forming herbaceous perennial with linear foliage to .3m high by .3m wide. Flowers are lilac racemes in summer followed by black fruits. 'Nigrescens' is a commonly grown dark-leaf variety.
Uses
Perennial with ornamental leaves suitable for rockeries, herbaceaous borders, small lawns and between paving stones.
Culture
Suitable for full sun or part shade in cool and temperate climates. Prefers moist, well-drained soil. Plant at .2m spacings to form a turf-like groundcover. Propagate by seed in autumn or division in spring.
