Evergreen or semi-deciduous shrub to 3m high by 2m wide. The leaves are mid-greeen, ovate and 15cm long. The insignificant green-red flowers are surrounded by scarlet red bracts during cooler weather.

A spectacular ornamental shrub for warmer regions, Poinsettia is a popular indoor plant in cooler areas.
Culture
Suitable for full sun or semi-shade and a warm climate. Grow as an indoor plant in cooler areas. Prefers well-drained soil. Frost tender. Propagate by cuttings. The sap is poisonous.
