Clump forming perennial with a height and spread of 15-30cm, usually grown as an annual. The leaves are pale green, hairy and broadly ovate with lobed margins. Dense umbells of flat, purple, white, mauve or pink flowers with yellow centres occur in spring.
Uses
Ornamental flower suitable for cottage gardens, pots and as a bedding plant.
Culture
Grow in semi-shade in a temperate climate. Prefers fertile, well-drained soil. Frost sensitive. Propagate from seed. The hairs on the leaves can cause rashes.
