Biennial plant up to 45cm high by 30cm wide, usually grown as an annual. The leaves are obovate/lanceolate and furry. The flowers are purple-blue with yellow centres, occurring in spring and summer.

Uses

Ornamental flower suitable for cottage gardens and as a bedding plant.

Culture

Grows best in sun or semi-shade in cool and temperate climates. Prefers fertile, well-drained soil, but will grow in most soils. Frost tolerant. Propagate from seed. Self-seeds readily and can be invasive.
