French Marigold

Fast-growing, upright, bushy annual plant growing to 30cm high and wide. The leaves are aromatic, deeply divided and dark green. The carnation-like double flowers are yellow, orange or red, occurring during summer and autumn.

Uses

Flowering annual suitable for cottage gardens, pots and as a bedding plant. Also grown as a companion plant to deter nematodes in vegetable gardens.

Culture

Grow in full sun in temperate or warm climates. Prefers fertile, well-drained soil. Frost sensitive, so raise seedling under glass until the risk of frost has passed. Deadhead regularly. Propagate by seed. Susceptible to slugs, snails and botrytis.
