Culture

Hardy, drought and frost resistant, however in colder areas performs best in a warm position against a wall facing the sun over winter. Well drained soils. Mulch liberally, annually in early spring with rotted cow manure or compost. Prune out any weak shoots.

Propagation

Semi hardwood cuttings, layering or seed sown in spring germinates at temperatures over around 14 degrees celsius.

Cultivars

A tall growing form of the species can get to 7 metres tall

Few problems, though birds and other animals may eat fruit.
