Deciduous shrub; leaves arranged opposite along stems; simple leaves. Green bark with a paper like texture;

Pink petals, inside of flower is yellow, flowering late spring and scented.

Grows to 2.5m tall and 4m diameter.

Uses

Shrubberies, embankments, Bird attractant in some places.

Culture

Prefers fertile, freely draining organic soil; prefers moderate water levels in soil, prefers fertile soil, but pH anywhere from 5 to 8; prune only lightly after flowering; excessive pruning may damage the shape.

Propagation

Cuttings in late spring or summer; also grow from suckers or layering.
