Smoke bush
This deciduous shrub grows to a height of 5 metres with a spread of 2 metres. It has dark, plum coloured foliage and bears smoky plumes of flowers in the Summer. During the Autumn, its' leaves turn scarlet.
Uses
A useful shrub for adding foliage colour to the garden.
Culture
Smoke bush is happiest in moist, fertile, well drained soil. It is best suited to an open, sunny position. Whilst it is frost resistant, it is also drought tender. It can propagated by seed or by layering.
